- I became passionate about breastfeeding and helping mothers reach their goals while breastfeeding my own children (8½ years), being involved in La Leche League, and being a La Leche League Leader. After becoming an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant in 2009, I earned my nursing degree in order to learn more and better serve mothers and babies. I have provided nursing and lactation care in many settings: home-visits, birth centers, public health, and hospitals, including lactation care in an Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. At the Breastfeeding Center of Charleston, I love giving mothers the information, tools, and confidence they need to make it through the, sometimes challenging, days of breastfeeding. We offer consults for newborns, older babies, premature babies, and multiples. The mother is our patient, too. All babies and mothers are seen by a physician trained in breastfeeding medicine providing further in-depth evaluation and access to medications and referrals as needed.
